Inside Out Book Tag

Since I am a big fan of Disney and Pixar movies, I thought I’d do this tag. Better late than never! I really enjoyed the movie. The concept was unique and as usual the visuals were absolutely stunning.

1. Joy – A book that makes you happy or brings you the most joy.

I had to go with FANGIRL by RAINBOW ROWELL for this one. Actually any of her books really. I get this gooey warm feeling whenever I pick that book up. Plus we can all agree that Cath is like the most relatable character ever.

2. Disgust – A book that grossed you out the most.

For this I couldn’t really find any proper answer cause I’ve never really read something utterly revolting. (Except Game of Thrones of course cause the amount of gore tbh)

So I decided to go with HORRID HIGH by PAYAL KAPADIA. The book features rather horrible teachers and rather horrible food. ‘Nuf said.

3. Fear – A book that scared the crap outta you.

For this I HAD to go with A MAGIC DARK AND BRIGHT by JENNY ADAMS PERINOVIC.

The book made me stay up all night after reading it because I was afraid some ghost would pop out inside my bedroom in the dark. Freakishly scary. *shivers* Do not be fooled by the pretty cover!

4. Sadness – A book that made you cry like a baby.

I’m guessing a lot of people would choose this book. Of course its HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS by J.K.ROWLING! Tell me you didn’t cry during all those painful, miserable, unnecessary deaths! *sobs*

5. Anger – A book that pissed you off.

I recently read the first book in this bind up and I was SO disappointed! Every one seemed to love it and I went in with good expectations and BOY WAS I WRONG! I just hated it.

2016 Reading Goals

Better late than never!

I read 150 books in 2015, even though a lot were graphic novels. Since its my last year in college along with work, I’m not sure how much I’ll be able to read.

So I put my Goodreads Goal – 100 books.

I really want to finish a series per month, so 12 in total. If I don’t feel like continuing with the same, I might jump on to some other series. Here are the series I’ve chosen as of now:

The Rory Gilmore Challenge

Why I read it:

It was one of my most anticipated releases of 2015.

Summary:

Mare Barrow’s world is divided by blood—those with red and those with silver. Review:

I’m having a major book hangover because of this book. I don’t know where to start! This book follows a society where Silver-Bloods rule whereas Red-Bloods are the slaves, and serve. They’re currently in war with another Silver-Bloods nation and more Reds are falling day by day. The Reds are kept in really bad condition when the Silvers enjoy all the pleasures. A typical dystopian novel where the weaker class rebels against the ruling class to make their living somewhat better. But wait. The Silvers have superpowers like telekinesis, manipulating metal, earth, water, having extra strong hands, etc.

So when a Red is found out having powers in front of all the High Houses, and its impossible to kill her off, the Royal Queen and King decide to lie and make her one of them. The events which follow are completely action packed and interesting. I’d like to know more about certain places mentioned in the book, just mentioned. The love triangle (?) was a bit annoying cause it was pretty evident who Mare, the protagonist liked, and was outright naive. The other two main characters Cal and Maven were interesting. The Queen was a bitch, obviously. The King didn’t seem to make an appearance much. Mare’s family is what we can connect to. The Reds are the people we connect with, and the Silvers are the people who were cold and calculating. The rebellion was the best thing she could believe could happen, and so she joined up. The training and magic part was the best, as well as the ending because the plot twists everywhere were okay, but the last one literally blew my mind!

There was info dumping in the start, but which series doesn’t have that? And this time, I realize I didn’t mind it at all. The action kept me wanting more and I couldn’t stop. I have not read Red Rising by Pierce Brown or the Selection, but I’ve heard fans of those books will enjoy this book since it has many similarities.

As beautiful as this world is, it’s just as dangerous. People who are not useful, people who make mistakes, they can be removed.

To look powerful is to be powerful.

There is nothing wrong with being different.
