Creatures of the Night | Book Tag

This Tag was created by Katytastic over at Booktube, and since we’re approaching Halloween now, I thought why not do this tag!

With each creature mentioned I’ll be recommending a book which features it. So let’s get started!

  1. Vampires

I know most people would go with Twilight but I’d rather choose this book.

Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead

2. Werewolves

Again, no Twilight. Let’s not be cliche. I’m going to go with a book series which includes all of these creatures.

City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

3. Zombies

I haven’t read any Zombie books unfortunately. But there’s a book I’ve been told that includes Zombies and is very good. So here you are. Let me know if I should read it!

Warm Bodies by Isaac Marion

4. Ghosts

I HAD to choose this one for Ghosts. I mean seriously, how long could I have avoided this book series? I could answer this for everything if I could..

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K.Rowling

5. Spell Caster/ Wizard/ Witch

I could use Harry Potter for this one again but I won’t. 😛

Eragon by Christopher Paolini

6. Fae / Faeries

These scare the shit outta me, so I’ve not read many books about them. There’s one series focused on them –

Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr

7. Demons

Technically this book series includes both Angels and Demons. But ah well.

Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor

8. Angels

I absolutely love this trilogy! If you haven’t read it yet, please do!

Angelfall by Susan Ee

9. Aliens

Other than the Lux series by J Lyn, I think this book trilogy is great too! Can’t wait for the movie. 😀

The Fifth Wave by Rick Yancey

10. Super Power Humans

I thought hard about this one. I read this book recently, and I can’t wait to read the sequel!

The Young Elites by Marie Lu

Are there any books featuring these creatures that I should read? Or any thoughts about the choices I made for the tag? Let me know in the comments below!

Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon TBR!

Hey you guys! I’m so sorry for being absent for the past two months. Its been real hectic with the job and college and it sucks. If you want to follow my reading pattern, go add me on Goodreads. I read a lot and update there regularly!

The Dewey’s 24 hour readathon starts on the 17th Oct to 18th Oct. If you guys want to participate go check out their website – HERE

Anyway, since its a weekend and this readathon is awesome, I wanted to be a part of it. I know there’s a high chance I won’t be able to read much because I have a seminar to attend and so my TBR mostly consists of Graphic Novels and short books. Its over ambitious but I really hope I can do this! This is my TBR for the weekend / readathon –

Are you participating too? Have you read any of these books, if yes then which one should I pick first? What are your plans for the weekend? Let me know in the comments below! 🙂

So the readathon just got over. I finished 5 books in total. But I’m pretty happy with that since I was busy for most of the 24 hours.

The books I read –

The Bad Beginning –   2

More Weird Things Customers Say In Bookshops –  4

Through The Woods –  5

Sex Criminals Vol. 2 –  3

The Wicked + The Divine Vol. 2 –  4

Can you keep a secret? by Sophie Kinsella

Can You Keep A Secret?

Sophie Kinsella

Stand Alone/Series:

Stand Alone

YA/Chick Lit

Why I read it:

I really liked The Confessions Of A Shopoholic by the author and this book is supposedly better than most of her work.

Emma is like every girl in the world. She has a few little secrets.

Secrets from her mother:
1. I lost my virginity in the spare bedroom to Danny Nussbaum while Mum and Dad were downstairs watching Ben Hur.

…From her boyfriend:
2. I’m a size twelve. Not a size eight, like Connor thinks.
3. I’ve always thought Connor looks a bit like Ken. As in Barbie and Ken.

…From her colleagues:
4. When Artemis really annoys me, I feed her plant orange juice. (Which is pretty much every day)
5. It was me who jammed the copier that time. In fact, all the times.

…Secrets she wouldn’t share with anyone in the world:
6. My G string is hurting me.
7. I faked my Maths GCSE grade on my CV.
8. I have no idea what NATO stands for. Or even what it is…

…until she spills them all to a stranger on a plane. At least, she thought he was a stranger…

This book was a perfect example of what one can expect from Sophie Kinsella. I liked the Confessions movie/book and decided to give this book a go. Funny and fast paced, this book did not have a single boring page. Some parts of it were without a doubt a bit dumb and somewhat far fetched but it didn’t really bother me at all, like it normally would. Her sense of humor is what kept me going throughout the book. I really enjoyed both the characters and totally related to the fact that we all keep secrets we think will hurt people if revealed and thus face difficulties managing those lies.
I recommend this book to Sophie Kinsella fans, Legally Blonde fans, and to some extent David Levithan fans.
Some people really hated it and some really enjoyed it, so it depends on person to person I guess.

“The truth is, some relationships are supposed to last forever, and some are only supposed to last a few days. That’s the way life is.”

“Relationships are a battle. They are a chess game. And what did I do? I just threw all my chess pieces down on the board at once, and said, “Here! Have them all!”

“Carried away.
He got a little carried away.
This is like saying Hitler was a tad aggressive.”

“Relationships are all about trust and equality. If one person shares, then the other person should share, too.”

“I hurl the glass teapot to the ground.
We both stare at it, stunned.
“it was supposed to break,” I explain after a pause, ” and that was going to signify that yes, I would throw something away . If I knew it wasn’t right for me.”
